She looks at her favourite book.
516 pearly white pages,
words printed in opaque black,
colors of the pictures radiant as
the smile looking at them brings upon her face.

She’s read it about 730 times now.
Once everyday.
Today, she turns 16.

She looks at her favourite book.
516 pale yellow semi torn pages,
faded writings amidst the black printed words,
translucent plastic sheets pasted over
the now discolored pictures.

She’s read it about 25915 times now.
Once everyday.
Today, she turns 85.

Her face, still beaming from her simple happiness.

twentyfirstofmaytwothousandandeight.

i am at home on a saturday night fb-ing and yes, blogging. i am a boring person who's bored :(
am now catching the american idol season 7 marathon. i think that jason guy with the dreadlocks is oh so cute. just that he cant seem to sing too well :s but whatever! his looks win me over ANYWAY! *grinsss*)

****************

so that was written on saturday. today is, wednesday. with the blinking of an eyelid/ the flashing of a row of stars, the long weekend twinkled by. no more long weekends for the year if im not wrong. got an email this morning that the long weekends for the year 2009 are aplenty though. yummy. only if i live long enough to enjoy the next year :(

Okay so i went to malaysia (truely Asiaaaa) on sunday evening. and i was OH SO EXCITED WHEN I GOT THERE. why? i have actually... other than once when i had a stopover at KL on my way to vancouver... NEVER been to malaysia :s had kway teow, sting ray, sotong and coconut juice for dinner. oh so yummy. and fattening. but cheap. then there was a lil bit of shopping and MASSAGE as a wonderful finishing touch. 50 sing bucks for 2 hours. MADNESS RIGHT.

Monday night i went to jane's place to visit mao mao/ raoul/ mochacho/ xiao mao mi (yes that cat has just about as many names as number of lives) that poor thing :( even a non cat lover like myself felt my heart squeeze. you see, her cat fell off her balcony. and is currenly paralysed waist down. she brought it to the JAMES TAN clinic, and was harshly advised to PUT IT TO SLEEP. thank God they didnt. cause hes SO MUCH BETTER NOW. speaking of animal names. this is a typical happening whenever i call a pet clinic:

me: i would like to make an appointment for my dog to see the vet tomorrow at 6?

nurse: okay... is this your first time?

me: nope.

nurse: okay can i have the owner's name?

me: oh..Goldie. G-O-L-D...

(before i can finish)

nurse: no no, the OWNER'S name not the pet's name.

me: errm. yes, my name IS GOLDIE. grrrrrr.

And may i please reccomend everyone KOREAN INSTANT NOODLES. it is OH SO MAD YUMMY. jane's mom cooked a packet for liza and myself to share. i tell you, EPITOME of QIU-NESS. and SALTINESS. *slurps* i bought 3 packets today. from this Korean shop at cineleisure. which i have come to realise is not the same as the one i had that day :( what to do, on offer mah. i AM singaporean after all :s

okay it's back to work. i thought marie's arriving today. SHE ISN'T. shes leaving vancouver on the 21st. arriving in singapore only on the 23rd early morning. nasty. well, GINA'S IN SINGAPORE AS WE SPEAK! WELCOME GINA! cant wait to see you! *smiles*

today, the television broke down.

Her finger sank through the thin layer of dust before finally reaching the “on” button. She was afraid of what that’d do but when the music came on, that instant nostalgia, which both wrenched and warmed, made it impossible for her to press that button once more.

That was what accompanied her until 2 years ago. Those countless sad, happy, angry, touching songs took her through all those very same emotions. They were never all happy. If anything, most stung more than it eased. Her world was a mere black and white. But everything was...real.

Until the television came along. Everything became more happy than sad. Because she knew when to turn it on. When to change the channel. The television took her into a colorful world of fantasy. Where everything seemed, almost perfect. Where she thought, she was in control. It’s no surprise why the television soon took over.

Today, the television broke down. For good.
